Tarot Desk VII - The Chariot

A tarot deck is an unusual item. Some are mere replicas that belong to fortune tellers and con men, and some provide a seeker with genuine answers. Either way, there is something about them that makes people… uncomfortable. It is said that the strongest decks are ones made by the one who plans to use it, designing each card based on what they believe best represents each archetype. The cards can be difficult, and unruly.

Their answers may be unclear or seem like they have no bearing on the question asked of them. But the answers they give always become clear in time.

The Chariot is a card all about control, or the lack thereof, we may feel in our lives. Normally featuring a chariot pulled by two horses, barely kept in line by its driver, my version of this card features the indomitable will of the dark ranger and her sinrunner. Willpower versus Hatred, and the delicate balance between the two, just like the out-of-control chariot on the verge of crashing.

Upright, The Chariot brings with it victory, success, and progress, so long as one also embraces ambition, assertion, determination, self-discipline, and focus. Reversed, The Chariot is a grim portend of lack of control, talent, and direction. If this warning is not heeded, then aggression and powerlessness will take over, and overwhelming obstacles will lead to defeat.
