Stranglethorn Vale, where troll ruins dot the landscape like shells on a beach...

The Expedition went to some undiscovered troll ruins, where a bountiful trove lay in wait. A golden statue of the Loa Hi’reek, for once in the Expedition’s duration, wasn’t cursed. They found a storeroom where food, tools, and medicine were preserved, and among them, Merada found an obsidian blade that contained a powerful fire spirit named Azier. Azier proved to be a font of knowledge and deemed Merada worthy of wielding their healing flame.

One of the rooms was booby-trapped with an intense web of trigger wire and black powder, and in the distance, signs of Dark Iron drilling. A rival to Jysice and the Expedition as a whole, the Grimgold Company, led by Belagore Grimgold, broke into the tomb to ransack and steal. This led to a showdown in the room of a deceased troll chief, with the Dark Iron aided by two thugs, a human warrior named Stankarm McGee and a night elf druid named Ban’an the Moon Child. Battle began.

Highlights of the battle include Aphu scoring a nat 20 on an attack that ended with Ban’an being mauled to death in the second round. Dorant used their Intercept trait to block a nat 20 attack against Jysice. The party also learned that Belagore Grimgold is a greedy, racist, but also equal-opportunity dwarf. While he may hate you all, he welcomes anyone to work for him regardless of race, gender, or lack thereof. In the end, he tried to bring the cave down with a massive amount of explosions, but the Expedition managed to get away.

The Expedition leaves richer for now, but Belagore Grimgold will be back for further surprises.
