Tarot Deck X - Hierophant

A tarot deck is an unusual item. Some are mere replicas that belong to fortune tellers and con artists, while others provide seekers with genuine answers. Either way, there is something about them that makes people… uncomfortable. It is said that the strongest decks are those made by the one who plans to use them, designing each card based on what they believe best represents each archetype. The cards can be difficult and unruly.

Their answers may be unclear or seem unrelated to the question asked of them. But the answers they give always become clear in time.

As a card, the Hierophant represents group identification. While named after the religious rank, the card is not limited to religious beliefs.

When upright, the focus lies in the structure of conformity and tradition, its conventionality, and the education or knowledge that lies in those shared beliefs. In reverse, the Hierophant models rebellion, unconventionality, non-conformity, and the new methods that are developed to challenge the status quo, but also the ignorance and the restriction that come with going against the grain.
